The History of PARIS
Did you know that Debra's first venture into bridal accessories was for her sister-in-law?
Unable to find bridal accessories that fit her style, Debra's sister-in-law asked Debra if she could design something for her wedding. At the time, Debra was a fine artist working as a window dresser for Federated, but agreed to take on the project.
Finding that she liked the medium, Debra placed an ad for her fabric bridal accessories in a local magazine. She was quickly inundated with orders and PARIS by Debra Moreland was born!
Inspired by the Lilies of the Valley egg she saw in a library book about Fabergé, Debra decided to learn metal millinery as the next step for her headpiece designs. She reached out to B. David, a renown Cincinnati jewelry company, to help her learn.
Debra began studying the art of jewelry making with B. David and forged a close relationship with the jeweler. She began creating metal headpieces and discovered how to adapt high-end costume jewelry into bridal accessories.
When B. David disbanded, the jeweler's family left their company and all of their jewelry designs to Debra herself. Paris still calls the B. David building in Cincinnati home and many of Debra's designs incorporate pieces of old B. David designs. You can see their influence in several of Paris' signature shapes.
As Paris grew, Debra hired artists with a BFA and trained them to recreate her iconic designs with the highest attention to detail. Each artist marks their work with a small symbol representing their "signature," so you can be sure all of your pieces are handmade in the USA with the utmost quality. Debra’s “signature” is a small pair of glasses.
In addition to her personal collections, Debra has created private collections for many top bridal gown designers including Vera Wang, Anne Barge, Romona Keveza and Lazaro among others. Her designs have also been chosen by celebrities like Taylor Swift, Lauren Conrad and Connie Britton for various special occasions.
Debra was named Accessory Designer of the Year by Wedding Dresses Magazine seven times out of the eight years the award was given.
Recently, Paris by Debra Moreland launched our e-commerce website in March of 2021 to accommodate the changing landscape of bridal. We have been loving this new chapter and appreciate all your support along the way. You can now shop PARIS' bestselling designs online here.
